For better or worse, being inauthentic is exhausting. Sooner or later we all get found out.
We’re born knowing who we are, but in so many cases we quickly learn to forget in order to conform, fit in and survive.
As we go through life, we remember in varying degrees at different stages but we often choose not to go there. Instead we choose to believe what we’ve been taught and take it as gospel on blind faith. It’s an easier option.
Or we have a really good grasp of who we are but we hide our authentic selves, hide out in order to feel safe. Once again, it can seem like the easier choice.
Some will wear masks and talk a good game when their aim is really manipulation. They’ve figured out how to work the system to get what they want.
But I have noticed that as people get older they tend to become more of who they truly are. For better or worse, being inauthentic is exhausting.
