Living Your Truth: Life On Your Own Terms

Life is short in varying degrees and days and nights are finite.
How do you want to spend yours?

We’re here for a blip; for a moment in time we walk this plane and all too soon it’s over...whether it’s a phase of life or an entire lifetime…it’s over. Life is too short to not live your truth.

So much of our lives seem to be spent ‘just getting through it’. Whether it’s a job, a project or a given situation we’re faced with, we spend our lives just getting through it. We wake up on Monday morning and dread the day, the commute, the work we have to do while bound by the clock and people we have to ‘deal with’ in the process. We count down the minutes until Friday afternoon. If this is how our days and weeks are spent we are, in essence dreading our lives. Life is too short to just get through it.
I know this first hand. I’ve spent my life with my feet in two different worlds, never fully committing to either. I’ve spent my adult years making a living in a profession that I do not like, doing work I don’t believe in, all the while telling myself I had to do it in order to keep a roof over my head, food on my plate, gas in my car. You know the drill and I know I’m not alone. But the longer I live, the harder it is to ignore the small, still voice that is now screaming “Life is Too Short Not to Live Your Truth!”

What is my Truth? What is your Truth? This is very different for every individual and can mean many different things to each one of us but I think this is one of the big questions we have to ask ourselves and answer honestly. We don’t necessarily need to share the answer with anyone but knowing the answer is something that, I believe, is crucial to Living Life on Your Own Terms. What Is Your Truth?

What if we asked ourselves these simple questions? “How do I want to spend my time? What is my truth? What would my life look like if I lived my truth and I lived my life on my own terms?” What if we just asked the questions and answered honestly. How different would the answers be in contrast to the life we’re currently living? How different would your life look if you pursued your dreams, lived your truth and your life on your own terms?

If not now, when? Life is short in varying degrees and days and nights are finite. How do you want to spend yours? The hours and days slip into months and years and before you know it a decade or two has passed. Time keeps moving no matter what  we’re doing so we might as well go for it sooner rather than later. Dare to dream. Dare to make those dreams reality. If not now, when?
